Digital Discard (2023)

This  series was developed using technology to examine the traditional art of drawing in today's digital era. The works emerged from the manipulation of diverse materials to form mini-sculptures, particularly observing how individuals fold and shape empty crisp packaging in social situations. Through photography, I captured intriguing compositions, questioning the origin of the source materials. The resulting pieces are showcased as digital prints, professionally crafted on aluminium dibond, which enhance the colour palette and graphic quality of the work.

Integrating technology into my creative process allows me to explore spatial and dimensional aspects within the source material, focusing on the connection between sculptural forms and two-dimensional representations. Adopting a digital approach in my practice provides more scope to experiment with colour schemes and compositions, and enables further exploration of the potential of this medium in contemporary art.

My interests stem from modernist theories, optical art, and abstraction, and my art delves into these esoteric visual concepts. Therefore, as a modernist, my work consistently revolves around materiality, form, line and colour, regardless of the diverse sources of my inspiration. The simplicity of these relationships generates artwork that deeply resonate with me, evoking a sense of tranquility and profound contentment.

My work subtly challenges viewers' perceptions of dimensionality and raises questions on the composition. The conceptual ideas underlying the pieces spark engaging and thought-provoking discussions about the contemporary world.
